The healthiest thing to do when you lose a tooth is have it replaced. Otherwise, you risk problems with biting, chewing and speaking, headaches, muscle pain and an unattractive appearance.
Dental implants serve as the base for many tooth-replacement options, including bridges, dentures and individual artificial teeth. Dr. Berman has completed a Two Year Implant Surgery Program at NYU, he is not only able to build crowns and bridges on implants, but the implants can be placed right here in the office. Dr. Berman is now a faculty member at the same program at NYU, and he teaches other practicing dentists how to place and restore implants. Dr. Lermer completed an Implant Fellowship at North Shore University Hospital. Many times the same day a tooth is extracted, we can place an implant the same visit, and often with a temporary tooth right on the implant so no missing space is necessary. The types of restorations that are available when implants are possible are limitless. Even just two implants can make a rocking or poorly fitting denture very rigid and stable. With enough implants, we can build crowns and bridges that fully restore your smile, facial features and give you the confidence and comfort you once had.

How are MDI Mini Implants placed?
Placement of the implants is accomplished quickly and easily in a process performed in our office, with local anesthesia. Using a precise, controlled, minimally invasive surgical technique, MDI Implants are placed into the jawbone. The heads of the implants protrude from the gum tissue and provide a strong, solid foundation for securing your dentures. Because of the minimally invasive nature of this procedure, MDI placement doesn’t require a lengthy healing period, meaning dentures can be stabilized the same day the mini implants are placed.

Impacted wisdom teeth have the potential to damage nearby teeth, bone and roots, and invite bacterial infection, which in turn leads to pain, swelling, jaw stiffness and other problems. We routinely take the proper x-rays to determine the position and the extent of growth of these teeth, usually beginning in the teenage years.
For many reasons, including fracture, decay and periodontal disease, other teeth may unfortunately have to be extracted for the overall long-term health of a patient. Dr. Berman has received specialized training in the removal of all teeth in a way that will preserve the bone, which prevents sinking in of the face or cheeks. Additionally we graft those areas where necessary to build up the missing or lost bone so that we may place dental implants, bridges or dentures. Extractions no longer need to result in big holes of lost bone and tissue, leaving behind defects that collect food or look unsightly.
